Status on Snow Production and Slopes

This is a brief summary of the status of snow production and slopes for the 24/25 season.
Please note that slopes openings mentioned below are subject to change.

Snow production status and openings ahead as of December 9th – Week 50.
Clear skies, no wind, and cold temperatures provide an excellent snowmaking period. It is a bit warmer on the Geilo side (due to the sun) and at the summits, but the facility is operating at full capacity. It now looks like we can continue snow production until Thursday, putting us on track to deliver a good product for Christmas!

Vestlia Status:

Bjødnaløypa (51) – Snow production has started – A couple more days of production are needed in the upper section before grooming. Aiming for opening in week 51. The lower section is expected to open around December 14th.
Bjødnastigen (50) – Snow production has started – More snow is needed before grooming. Aiming for opening in week 51.
Eiva-løypa (52) – The trail is open with good conditions – Snowmaking is ongoing in the upper section from December 9-11.
Vestlialøypa (53) – Will open as a powder slope once there is enough natural snow.
Randi-løypa (54) – Snow production has started, but a lot more is needed.
Trollklubben (56) – Snow production has started, aiming for opening on December 14th.
Trollbakken (57) – The trail is open with park elements. Some additional snow production will be done in week 50 to widen the slope.
Hallingen (58) – Will open with natural snow. Much more snow is needed before opening.
Asle-løypa (59) – The slope is open. Asle-løypa is a training venue for sports teams and may be closed at times. The Pre-Christmas Cup will be held Thursday-Sunday this week (week 50). We aim to keep it open for the public until 1:00 PM during the holiday period.

Summary: Vestlia is open every day for all guests. Eiva-løypa and Trollbakken with park elements are open for everyone. We hope to open Trollklubben and the lower Bjødnaløypa on Saturday, December 14th. We are on track for a successful Christmas season!

Kikut Status:

Kikutløypa (68) – Snow production has started in the lower section, aiming for opening on December 14th.
Toneløypa (65) – Snow production has started in the upper section, aiming for opening on December 14th. Additional snow production will be done for park elements before the Christmas holiday.
Eventyrløypa (66) – Snow production has not started yet.
Davidløypa (63) – Snow production has started, and snow has been laid below the drop. We are uncertain about opening on December 14th due to the operating permit for the reconstruction of the Top Lift. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
Guroløypa (64) – Snow production has not started yet.
Hufsa children's area (61) – Snow production has started.

Summary: We are aiming to open the Kikut lift and slopes down to Vestlia on Saturday, December 14th. Otherwise, we are on track for Christmas and are hoping for cold weather to allow for park elements in Kikut Park.

Halstensgård Status:

Ølkorken (11) – Snow production has not started yet.
Steinspretten (12) – Will open as a powder snow trail once there is enough natural snow.
Musikkbakken (13) – Snow production is completed, from the drop to Fugleleiken. Grooming will be done. Aiming for opening in week 51.
Orreleiken (14) – Will open as a powder slope once there is enough natural snow.
Tiurspranget (15) – Snow production has not started yet.
Fugleleiken (16) – Snow production has started, but more days of snowmaking are needed. We will know more on December 12th. Aiming for opening in week 51.
Rypestien (49) – Will open with natural snow. Much more snow is needed before opening.

Summary: Fugleleiken (chairlift) is on track to open for Christmas, but we need several more days of cold weather before Christmas to complete snowmaking on the lift course in Halstensgårdheisen and the "field" down to the Halstensgård Café. We expect to open all the way down by Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Geilohovda Status:

Sonja-løypa (21) – The slope is open with good conditions.
Telemarken (22) – Will open with natural snow. Much more snow is needed before opening.
Ola-løypa (23) – Will open with natural snow. Much more snow is needed before opening.
Vest-Allèen (24) – Snow production has started and will be coordinated with the opening of slope 16, Fugleleiken.
Geilo-løypa (26) – Snow production is completed, aiming for opening on December 14th.
Sentrumsbakken (27) – Snow production has started.

Summary: Sonja-løypa is open with good conditions, and more slopes will open leading up to Christmas. Everything is on track.

Slaatta Status:

Slaatta-løypa (30A) –
Slaattajordet (31) –
Bukkene Bruse (35) –
Anne-løypa (36) –

Summary: Please contact Slaatta Skisenter for an update. Planned opening dates will be provided later.

Havsdalen Status:

Arne-løypa (41) – Arne-løypa is open with good conditions. Some training is taking place on the left side (driving direction), but it is separated with netting.
Barneområde (43) – The children's area around the magic carpet is finished and open. The opening of the children’s lift has been delayed as we are waiting for documentation for the replacement of the rope/steel wire. It is expected to open during week 51.
Fjellheisen with trails – Fjellheisen will open with natural snow. There is no snowmaking facility here, so a significant amount of natural snow and drift snow is needed to open. We hope to open Fjelløypa (45) and Havsdalsløypa (47) by Christmas, but this cannot be guaranteed. Even with a lot of natural snow, it compresses significantly when packed by the snow groomer (1 meter of snow becomes about 15 cm). A minimum of 30-40 cm of compacted snow is required to open.

Summary: Arne-løypa and the children's magic carpet are open every day for guests. Havsdalskroa is open. We are slightly behind with the children's area. Fjellheisen and the surrounding area still lack a lot of snow, primarily drift snow from the west. We are uncertain about the opening here for Christmas.

Park Status:

Trollbakken (57) – Open with park elements.
Geiloparken Kikut – Expected to open by Christmas.
Geiloparken Vestlia – Expected to open the first jump by December 20th (but needs cold weather).
SlaattaParken – Status will be provided later.
