Most people have travel insurance today. However, it's important for you to check if you have valid travel insurance before joining us for dog sledding. Geilo Dogsledding has its own insurance, but everyone participating in dog sledding with us does so at their own risk and must have their own travel insurance.
What to Expect on the Tour:
Geilo Dogsledding offers a 10 km dog sledding tour starting at Ustedalsfjorden by Geilo Beach. We use two large dog teams, with each team having two sleds. We have chosen to use two sleds because we are very concerned about safety. By using two sleds, you as a guest will have a spectacular feeling of being a dog musher. One guest stands on the front sled with a clear view of the entire dog team, while an experienced dog musher stands on the rear sled. The other guest sits comfortably and warmly in the sled, enjoying the ride on the scenic Ustedalsfjorden behind the four-legged heroes.
Usually, at the halfway point, the person standing on the sled will switch with the person sitting in the sled so that both get to experience driving the large dog team.
Who is Geilo Dogsledding?
Geilo Dogsledding is a small family business located in Ustaoset. Primarily, Steinar and Lars (father and son) are responsible for dog sledding. Ane (elder sister) also helps when needed, and Berit (mother) is in charge of bookings. We have 20 well-trained and beautiful Alaskan Husky dogs. We have been involved in dog sledding for many years, and good dog care has always been very important to us. The dogs are primarily trained for competitive mushing, but we also want to offer dog sledding to Geilo's guests to provide them with an insight into the life of a dog musher.
